HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! Ahh..so long never blog already, I have quite a no of things to share. 24 - 26 Jan09 -This CNY was memorable. Went back to grandma's house exceptionally early this year, on the night before chu xi. And so we had our reunion dinner with grandparents and some cousins (sadly the ones i'm not close to). Grandma would always prepare a ritual to pray to the ancestors in the afternoon and another ritual to pray to the 天公 at 12 midnight on the day of CNY. I was her lovely assistant that night, helping her in preparing the food for prayer. Had a very fun time because I was trying to talk in Hokkien to her. Her chinese is broken while my Hokkien is broken. Hahaha. My grandma has a favourite 'vulgar' word to scold people - 三八 , and that is in Hokkien - San Ba-d. LOLS it's very funny hearing her scolding san ba-d (the tone is damn cute) whenever we tease her or say nonsensical things =P I intentionally said I want to eat the peach bun (which is meant for the prayer) because it looks really pretty and instantly I got to hear my favourite word from her. Hehe. My mum just did the job of laughing at us at one side. Not only do I like to tease my adorable grandma, my mum and bros do it too. But of course we do it in a joking manner, which is why she would always end up cracking in laughters after she 'shoot' us back. And celebrating the first night of CNY in grandma's house won't lose to going to the crowded-like-noone's-business Chinatown in Singapore. Once the clock strikes twelve, we could hear the loud fire crackers from other households, lighting up one after another. And there were fireworks too, and those fireworks are comparable to the ones in Singapore. Wonder which household is so loaded uh. The pictures and video of fireworks are with my da ge now. So I guess have to wait till he is back from NZ before I can post them up. We rushed back to Singapore at 6am on the first day of CNY because my da ge developed skin swellings after everyone went to sleep at 3am. We did not know the aetiology of it and due to the fact that he had to leave the country on NS course the next day, we ought to get back to Sg for treatment. That was why I did not get to see my favourite cousins as they were coming down only on that afternoon. =( 27 Jan 09, tues, 2nd day of CNY. House visiting day. My mum whipped up a sumptuous feast for the guests who are coming to the house. AndI'msosadIdidn'tgettoeatit! Taby and weimin came over to bai nian and we moved to taby's, then to dan's. Haha, so happy, I finally get to go to there to mess it up. LOL! We intended to burn his house down with sparklers since taby had it. But we love him too much so we dropped the idea. We played a prank on one of our female ex classmate (shall not disclose the identity.lol!) using dan's msn. I was pretending to be him, feeling so depressed because his lovely dog(since when did he even have one) died a few days ago and its body was still there blah blah and that he is intending to suicide. Haha oh poor girl, she got so freaked out that she called my hp. But that freaked me out as I thought she knew that it was me doing the typings. It turned out that she was anxious and didn't know what to do so she was calling for my help. We almost burst in laughters because it was on loudspeaker. Haha i'm so mean i know ~.~ but we revealed the truth to her in the end. She is so going to kill me when we meet, but who knows when. Haha. We played laughed crapped as the time flew and taby had to rush home for dinner. wm wanted to watch the "green-green" movie (Love Matters) so off the 3 of us went to Tiong Bahru! See, so s-teady right. Hah. I didn't know about the movie content initially. Quite yellow sia, the sausage and meatballs part was ... -_- LOL! And the movie lasted for 2 hours, it was 11 odd when we came out. Trained back to Clementi with wm and I was saying that I could camp over at Dover since I had school in a few hours time. But still, in the end he walked me home. Haha. This CNY had me late nights. Broke my 2 weeks chain of sleeping at 10. Now I can't seem to sleep early. Must rewind my biological clock again. Haha. Some of the pictures taken in dan's house.. welooksoguai =) dun dare to do stunts as the photographer was his dad. lol! wm finding for seats for his green green movie.. utilising his whiteboard =P . . . ok so the photo taking craze starts.. 'ancient family photo' no we are not hitting you taby. it's the pillows blankets and pooh bear who loves u too much =P if you say we are advertising as pillow sellers, then it should be weimin! notice he changes his product in every photo! |

I HATE LIZARDS! One of the 3 top listed things that I'm the most afraid of. I was folding clothes on my bed just now and this tiny bloody creature uncovered itself when I picked a piece from the pile, staring at me thinking it is so cute with those black eyes and that i would screech in joy picking it up to kiss. well fat hope for you. And it was MY blouse. fatest hope to the core. I am now wondering how on earth did I hesitate for a second before I threw the blouse far off from me. Okay enough of my ranting. And FYI, I am only afraid of lizards (grr. bloody thing!) after an incident whereby I was scared shit by it. In fact, the incident repeated thrice. School Anyhow, there was spec recycling duty after that. We managed to pack up boxes of recycled spectacles according to their powers. It have been weeks of hard work on this. Collecting the specs, conduct quality check each of them, sterilising, checking the power, packaging, and now that we are working on the sort ups. Our OITP can be considered a community service trip since we are going to kampong places to run free eye checks for the children and prescribing the spectacles. OOooh. Random fact from me now. I LOVE INDIAN ROJAK~ Mw ha ha. I just got to taste it again YEARS after the last time I had it. And it was from the same stall. =P Wanted to take a picture of it, but dang, I din bring my hp out. The taste is still the same, just that the price is ... And I bought something from Giordano today. After 2 years of boycotting the retail. I have always had this mentality that the clothes there are 365 24/7 or-bit. Now that there is finally something up there that's worth spending my pennies for, I hereby pronounce that Giordano is no longer an or-bit-fied shop! Haha. |

Hmm. Ok lah, I being the diligent and hardworking and *inserts the rest of the synonyms* I, promise you, that you, will start seeing, pictures coming in, soon soon..! Ok, let's blog. Umm hmm erm... What to say.. Since there is nothing much for me to blog about what happened today since it is still early and that since I presume nothing interesting would happen later on also, let me share with you all some weird facts about me! Wahah. *grins* ..Ready? Weird Fact no. 1: I am considered a bo gey (no teeth). HAHAHA YES. I only have 27 adorable lil teethies whereas a normal human should have 32! (I am deprived of 5 teeth. How sad can it be!) Well I don't know if it applies for asians though. How many do you have? Weird Fact no. 2: I write better with (mechanical) pencil! Yeah, my handwriting varies with the writing tools I use. My worst handwriting (I almost typed hardworking. See, told you I am hardworking.) can be seen when writing with ballpoints. Weird Fact no. 3: My brain works the best when I go showering. Oei, don't think far. It's just that my thinking cap is placed in my bathroom. Hah.. Basically it just happen that ideas would start popping into my mind, and I'll start rushing off the bathroom to drop down the solutions to the-very-difficult-A-star-star-star-math-question. Ok, the given example is exaggerated, I admit. Hee. Weird Fact no. 4: I like sleeping like a corpse. Yes lah, with the blanket from my toes covering right up to my head. No you won't die of suffocation because I am still alive here. Actually sleeping like a popiah is more like it. Wrapped all round cuddled up. Shiok! Weird Fact no. 5: Even though I am a Science student, I have been believing (since young) that plants, including trees and grasses, do feel painful and sad when you pluck stomp flick hit chop them. Why? Because they are LIVING THINGS! ...they have a life too..you know... As for the painful part, don't flame me, I prove myself wrong first lah k, one of the reasons is that they have no nerves to generate any impulses to start with! --- That's about it. Can't think of anymore weird things about me. Fancy spending 1 hour typing this |

School was interesting today. Almost everyone that I walked past today were discussing bout the last episode of Little Nyonya, a 9pm mega-hit show on Chn 8, that was aired last night. It was laughable listening to my classmates complaining about the not-so-satisfying ending. Like the rest, I am not happy with the ending too. Why couldn't true love be together! Grr. At least they should have met before she died. GRR! Okay lah, now I have no more show to watch, no driving force for my weekdays. =( But I'm glad Chn U is showing my past favourite HK drama now. At least there is a reason for me to switch on my TV. |

GEMs class today was okay. Initally we were grouped randomly for an upcoming presentation, and luckily someone voiced out to the lecturer to ask if we could form our own teams instead. Then of course, I am with my coursemates Yuli, Matthew(he crashed the lecture, coming in the name of Zhun Hong who was absent. Haha), Kelvin and Janice, with Marcus and Jeff from other courses. So the topic assigned to us is Singlehood VS Marriage. We were crapping away with stuff like couples with 8-digits not compatible (八字不合), single men have more money to spend on himself, married women are more likely to have high blood pressure and heart attacks (due to their spouse, of course), etc. And I pity those groups who got harder topics like "Homosexuality = normal?". Hah.. Ah anyway, here is one amazing video you won't want to miss out. Haha, enjoy!! |

2008 was a fruitful year, being a Yr 2 student, walking on the path towards the life of an optometrist. We have learnt so many skills on general eye examinations, slit lamp biomicroscopy, binocular vision tests, contact lens fitting and assessing, subjective refraction, diagnosing and treating eye diseases.. This year is going to be even tougher, having us to deal with clients coming in to the Optometry Centre as our patients. Sigh, I don't think I will be able to pull through this. I'm afraid that I will forget all the setups and clinical procedures once I see unfamilar faces of different age groups. As for now, I have no experience with children, adults and elderlies. What to do?! Ok lah, maybe I should stop worrying and be happy. Afterall, I know that I am not alone :) Want to see my New Year Resolution list? Here it is. Quite a number of them uh, need to be more consistent to achieve them. 1. 早睡早起! 2. make my OITP a successful one [Grade A] 3. ↑ GPA 4. a smooth sailing attachment 5. eat less and exercise more! 6. play less and study more ~.~ 7. work on ways to improve my vision acuity. I want back my 6/6 acuity! 8. have time and $$ to go on a holiday trip to Guangzhou/ HK/ Taiwan 9. stay close with my friends and family ^^ 10. keep this blog alive! hopefully till I can post my resolutions for 2010! and i want to be white this year. so... no more tanning! |
